The 30-kilometer Blue Line project, which will span 14 stations and link key residential, economic, and educational districts across Dubai, is progressing ahead of schedule. Over 500 engineers and 3,000 workers are deployed across 12 construction sites to accelerate progress on the AED56.5 billion (US$15.4 billion) development.

Construction teams have completed more than 260 deep foundations and 400,000 cubic metres of excavation, with two ready-mix concrete plants and production yards established in Al Ruwayyah 3 and International City to enhance operational efficiency. The safety record remains exemplary, with all 3 million work hours completed without fatalities, reflecting strict adherence to international safety standards.

Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of Dubai’s RTA, stated: “The Dubai Metro Blue Line is one of RTA’s most strategic projects, serving areas expected to house around one million residents by 2040 and offering direct journeys to Dubai International Airport in just 20 minutes.”

The project is aligned with two major Dubai initiatives: the Dubai Urban Plan 2040 and the Dubai Economic Agenda (D33). According to RTA officials, the Blue Line will promote the ’20-minute city’ concept and reduce traffic congestion by 20 per cent, addressing mobility challenges in the emirate’s rapidly expanding urban landscape.

The line will operate in two directions: from Creek Interchange Station on the Green Line in Al Jaddaf to Dubai Academic City, and from Centrepoint Interchange Station on the Red Line in Al Rashidiya to International City. The project’s architectural centerpiece, Emaar Station, will be the world’s highest metro station at 74 metres tall with capacity for 240,000 passengers daily by 2040.

RTA targets 30 per cent completion by the end of 2026, with full operations commencing on 9 September 2029. The ambitious timeline reflects Dubai’s broader commitment to transportation infrastructure enhancement, supporting economic growth and population expansion across the emirate.
